A very experienced, international public artist who has carried out prestigious commissions in Britain and Europe. He works in a variety of media including bronze, stone and wood as well as pioneering a new way of working with concrete to create truly unique sculptures. He works both figuratively and non figuratively and across all scales to the monumental. Women's Royal Air Force Memorial
Commissioned by: WRAF veterans
Materials: Blue Pennant Stone and Bronze
Height: 2.5 Metres
Location: National Memorial Arboretum, Staffordshire.
The memorial consists of two bronze figures flanking an RAF badge and globe. The figure represent the start and finish of the WRAF with the left hand figure dressed in a 1918 uniform whilst the one on the right is dressed in 1994 uniform. The design was in response to a concept by Sylvia Walker, who chaired the committee that organised and funded the project.
