Shot at Dawn Memorial 2000
This sculpture forms the centerpiece of the
"Shot at Dawn"
memorial which was unveiled at the National
Memorial
Arboretum, Staffordshire, on 21st June 2001.
It is Eight and
a half feet tall, and is inspired by Herbert
Burden, a 17 year
old boy soldier who was executed for desertion
in the First World War.
I donated the statue to the relatives of the executed soldiers as a permanent
memorial where they and others can commemorate the 306 victims of war.
Guide price £15000 - £20,000

There is currently
a campaign to secure pardons for the 306 executed soldiers.
Details can
be obtained from John Hipkin, 45 Alderwood Crescent, Walkerville, Newcastle
on Tyne NE66 4TT.
John is a pensioner
and the campaign relies on the generosity of it's supporters.
Please send
stamps, postal orders or cheques for whatever you can afford to John at the
above address.
Thank You
