The Commission was the concept of two ATS veterans who wanted the ATS to have a dignified memorial of their own. I worked closely with them to ensure that they had the memorial they desired as they had been let down previously. It depicts a young woman in ATS uniform, looking back over her shoulder in quiet reflection. It was also a wish of the veterans that she should be smiling.
